When our first album Make for Joy was released, we were absolutely thrilled with the result. To our great surprise and joy, RTÉ Radio 1 even made it album of the Week.
We started playing the songs live and enjoying the journey, but of course the idea of a second album was already quietly in the back of our minds.
It took a while before the inspiration arrived. You can’t force something like that. We hoped to create something that would be different from the first album, but inspiration doesn’t really work like that, you can’t plan how it will come or what shape it will take.
So we simply started. We worked on songs, wrestled with melodies and lyrics, and slowly something new began to grow.
What emerged is an album with many different styles and colours. Yet because the two of us create it together and always stay close to our hearts, it still very much sounds like Evelyn and Dec. At the same time it has a little more edge, a bit more variation, and a new energy.
